Course Description
A critical review of socioculturally defined problems facing our world on a micro and macro level.

Course Content
A. Definitions, evaluations and actions.
B. Sociological theories applied to social problems.
C. Multicultural identities: race, ethnic, sexual, economic, age and religious identities.
D. Global concentrations of economic power, political power and aggression, populations resources, environmental concerns and population.
E. Specific problem areas: sexual variance, gender, substance abuse, violence, crime, educational disparity, families at risk, and physical and mental health care.
