HSEM 460 Research Methods in Homeland Security Emergency Management (5 credits)
Prerequisite Current enrollment in the Bachelor of Applied Science in Homeland Security Emergency Management program.
Course Description This course provides students with an overview of the primary research methods used in HSEM. Students will learn how to assess and summarize research, and apply theory to practice.

Student Outcomes Assess the value and impact of academic research to the practice of emergency management.
Differentiate between peer-reviewed academic literature, industry publications, and other forms of writing.
Develop a plan for conducting a Homeland Security research project that will address a current issue or problem.
Create an annotated bibliography or literature review that supports execution of the research project.
