FSLM 400 Community Risk Reduction for the Fire Service (5 credits)



Prerequisite Admittance in the BAS-FSLM Program.

Course Description
This course provides a theoretical framework for the understanding of the ethical, sociological, organizational, political, and legal components of community risk reduction, and a methodology for the development of a comprehensive community risk-reduction plan.

A. Introduction to Community Risk Reduction and the Fire Service
B. Develop and Meet Risk Reduction Objectives
C. Identify and Develop Intervention Strategies
D. Implement a Risk Reduction Program
E. Review, Modify, and Market Risk Reduction Programs

Program Outcomes: Fire Systems Risk Management Analyze the factors that shape risk and apply them to strategies for fire and injury prevention including fire risk reduction prevention, enforcement, investigation, research, and planning.
