FSLM 265 Fire Officer II (5 credits)



Course Description
This course is an introduction to a fire officer’s duties as written by the requirements of the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) 1021, Standard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications. Content includes interaction with government agencies, report writing, managing human resource, RMS, budgets, performance appraisal and exposure reports.

Student Outcomes
Evaluate employee performance, group dynamics, professional development and behavior management according to established performance requirements. Communicate the role, mission, and image of the department to a variety of stakeholders with similar goals and missions in order to establish strategic partnerships. Construct a project, departmental budget, news release, and policy change according to established job performance requirements. Conduct fire investigations, investigation report and chain of custody in order to determine origin, preliminary cause and meet legal requirements. Supervise and implement multi-unit emergency operations, operational plans and postincident analysis. Examine risk management through risk, injury, accident, and health exposure reports in order to identify unsafe work environments or behaviors.
