Course Description
The first quarter of a first year sequential course to help the student acquire the ability to speak, read, and write Chinese.

Course Content
A. Pronunciation of Chinese syllables, words, phrases, and sentences
B. Romanization system (Pinyin)
C. Greetings and polite inquiries
D. Daily life and activities
E. Counting
F. Dates and clock time
G. Statements and questions
H. Postpositions
I. Standard word order
J. Subordination of nominals
K. 50 basic Chinese characters
L. Festivals and holidays
