Virtual Construction for Construction Management Certificate Course Map

Required Prerequisites


ENGL 099 with a grade of 2.0 or better or placement into college-level English.
MATH 054 with a grade of 2.0 or better or placement into MATH 096.

  • Course purpose:  A foundational course to explore and affirm a career choice and build upon the skills, knowledge, and resources that will support you at Pierce College and beyond.

  • Course purpose: Introduction to the construction management field including estimating, bidding, scheduling, project management, and field operations.

  • Course purpose: Construction Management processes are introduced, including industry terminology, business practices, estimating/bidding, scheduling, project management, field operations and career pathways.

  • Course purpose: You will learn about construction documents and their use as a tool to manage the construction process.

  • Course purpose: You will learn the technical aspects of construction systems, including the procedures and methods for masonry, steel, wood, and concrete construction. Recent trends in construction materials are also covered.

  • Course purpose: You will need to be proficient in using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel and these are tools used daily in the construction management field.

  • Note: The College Success course you select will depend on the Career Pathway Map you are following. Your advisor will assist you in selecting either the 3- or 5- credit version of the course. Should you choose to repeat a College Success course you must enroll in a College Success course with the same credit amount as the original course; a COLLG 110 course grade can only be replaced with a grade from another COLLG 110 course and a COLLG 115 course grade can only be replaced with a grade from another COLLG 115 course.
