Course Description An introduction to the history of astronomy and to scientific inquiry including basic concepts in observational astronomy, the solar system, stars, galaxies, and the origin of the universe. This is a non-lab course.
Student Outcomes Articulate the process of scientific inquiry and discovery as it applies to astronomy.
Describe the historical context in which our understanding of the universe has evolved.
Compare the relative size and scope of astronomical objects and timescales.
Differentiate the processes that govern the evolution of the universe and life within it.
