PE 170 Introduction to Weight Training (1 credit)
Course Description This course is designed to introduce students to resistance training as a form of exercise to build muscular strength and muscular endurance.
Student Outcomes 1. Assess muscular strength and endurance using standard fitness assessments to develop SMART goals.
2. Demonstrate safe and effective techniques using multiple modalities to improve muscular strength and endurance using both common and uncommon equipment.
3. Discuss all aspects of exercise safety, to include effective warm up and cool down, safe spotting techniques, and recognition of signs and symptoms of overtraining.
