BTECA 102 Keyboard Development & Basic Bus Doc Formatting I (1 credit)



Course Description
This course assists students with continuous development of keyboard speed, accuracy and technique while simultaneously applying keyboarding skills to create basic business documents.

Course Content
A. Improvement of Speed and Accuracy
B. Optimal Ergonomic Position
C. Type by touch with correct fingering
D. Prepare and edit basic business documents
E. Document producing and scanning

Student Outcomes
1.  Demonstrate an improvement in keyboarding speed and accuracy with a minimum average typing speed of 16 wpm for a minimum of 2 minutes with 4 errors or less while maintaining optimal ergonomic position.

2.  Produce basic business documents to include keying, formatting, proofreading, and editing while using word processing tools.

Degree Outcomes
Program Outcome: Demonstrate proficiency in efficiently performing a variety of administrative tasks. (Including answering phones, managing schedules, handling correspondence using common office software such as word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and email/calendar management programs.) 

Effective Communication: Graduates will be able to craft and exchange ideas and information in a variety of situations, in response to audience, context, purpose, and motivation.
