MUSC 183 Advanced Class Piano (1 credit)

Prerequisite MUSC 182 with at least a 1.5 grade or instructor permission.

Course Description
A continuation of MUSC 182 that prepares students for the piano proficiency test required for a music degree in a four-year institution.

Course Content
a. Bb-major, Eb-major, and Ab-major scales, arpeggios, and chords. b. g-minor, c-minor, and f-minor scales, arpeggios, and chords. c. triads and inversions. d. seventh chords and their inversions. e. harmony f. memorization techniques

Student Outcomes
 

  1. Play select major and minor scales and arpeggios.
  2. Demonstrate sight-reading skills.
  3. Perform 2 to 4 sections of intermediate repertoire from memory for fellow students.
  4. Harmonize a melody from a lead sheet.
