Prerequisite MUSC 182 with at least a 1.5 grade or instructor permission.
Course Description A continuation of MUSC 182 that prepares students for the piano proficiency test required for a music degree in a four-year institution.
Course Content a. Bb-major, Eb-major, and Ab-major scales, arpeggios, and chords. b. g-minor, c-minor, and f-minor scales, arpeggios, and chords. c. triads and inversions. d. seventh chords and their inversions. e. harmony f. memorization techniques
Student Outcomes
- Play select major and minor scales and arpeggios.
- Demonstrate sight-reading skills.
- Perform 2 to 4 sections of intermediate repertoire from memory for fellow students.
- Harmonize a melody from a lead sheet.
