PE 164 Basic Basketball Skills (2.0 credits)



Course Description
This is an introductory basketball course designed to introduce and reinforce basketball skills: shooting, passing, dribbling, footwork, rebounding, defense, and introduce the tactical offense and defense.

Skill-related components of fitness G. Behavior modification and habit building  H. Goal setting and evaluation   I. Student Outcomes
1. Identify medical clearance for safe participation in exercise and the benefits of participation in a comprehensive fitness program.

2.  Demonstrate the fundamentals of basketball:  techniques, tactics, physical fitness, safety, rules, strategy, team-work and communication. 

3. Identify the benefits of exercise to improve one’s health and wellness through the development of SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound) goals for the purpose of self-analysis, self-discovery, and self-reflection.
