PE 168 Indoor Soccer (2 credits)



Course Description
This course is designed for players of all levels, to improve dribbling, passing, shooting, and teamwork. Participants will enhance their knowledge of strategy, sportsmanship and fitness through organized small-sided games.

Course Content
A. Medical clearance for exercise B.  Technical soccer skills C.  Tactical soccer skills D.  Teamwork and collaboration E. Benefits of soccer for fitness acquisition F. Skill-related components of fitness G. Behavior modification and habit building H. Goal setting and evaluation   I. Motivational techniques J. Self-awareness; self-worth; confidence   K. Safety, rules and strategies

Student Outcomes
1. Identify medical clearance for safe participation in exercise and the benefits of participation in a comprehensive fitness program.

2. Demonstrate the fundamentals of soccer including advanced dribbling, passing, and shooting.
3. Identify the benefits of soccer as a form of physical activity and exercise to improve one’s health and wellness through the development of SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound) goals for the purpose of self-analysis, self-discovery, and self-reflection.
 

Degree Outcomes
Program Outcome: Graduates will increase their awareness, knowledge and behavioral skills regarding the role of physical activity and exercise as a foundation for life-long health and wellness.
