VT 125 Animal Anatomy and Physiology I (5 credits)
Prerequisite Enrollment in the Veterinary Technology Program
Course Description Study of animal anatomy and physiology at the cellular, tissue, and system levels: skeletal, muscular, circulatory, nervous, sensory, respiratory, and digestive.
Course Content 1. Animal body structures and functions on cellular, tissue, organ, and system levels for the following body systems: skeletal, muscular, circulatory, nervous, sensory, respiratory, digestive.
2. Basic laboratory techniques of dissection and use of specific lab equipment used in physiologic functions.
Student Outcomes
- Identify anatomy and physiology of various species commonly seen in a veterinary practice.
- Demonstrate the use of correct animal terminology to articulate the function and structural differences of cells, tissues, and the development of organ systems.
