DHYG 439 Senior Seminar Capstone (1 credit)
Prerequisite Currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene.
Course Description Develop career strategies and leadership to build interdisciplinary teams that expand the vision of oral health professionals, culminating in a capstone project as part of an exiting ePortfolio.
Course Content Dental hygienist’s six American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA) roles
Dental hygiene alternative practice settings, traditional and non-traditional
Obstacles and solutions in leadership/project management
Ethical, financial, and management considerations in leadership/project management
Community-based, inter/intra- professional teams
Emerging dental hygiene roles and skills
Other emerging oral healthcare roles
Global roles in dental hygiene
Regulation of dental hygiene practice acts, education, and licensure
Capstone project
