MUSC 267 Private Instruction: Keyboard (1 credit)
Distribution Area Fulfilled Humanities with Performance; General Transfer Elective Course Description A continuation of MUSC 167 geared towards advancing student music performance in piano. No audition required.
Course is repeatable for additional credit up to 3 times in the degree.
Course Content a.) pitch, rhythm, tempo, articulation, and intonation precision
b.) proper keyboard playing technique
c.) dynamic, phrase, balance
d.) timbre, stylistic expression
e.) Sight reading
f.) Audition strategies and skills (e.g. audition preparation including sight-reading, contrasting repertoire, etc.)
Student Outcomes
- Demonstrate, through performance, improvement in technique, literacy and musicality.
- Demonstrate effective audition skills and strategies.
