MUSC 150 College Band (2 credits)
Distribution Area Fulfilled Humanities with Performance; General Transfer Elective Formerly MUSIC 150A
Course Description A large performance ensemble open to all students with experience reading and performing instrumental band literature. Non-music major participation encouraged. Quarterly concerts required. Course is repeatable for additional credit up to 3 times in the degree.
Course Content a.) unifying pitch, rhythm, tempo, articulation, and intonation precision
b.) proper ensemble technique
c.) unifying dynamic, phrase, balance
d.) unifying timbre, stylistic expression
e.) listening and responsiveness to others within the ensemble including the conductor
f.) innovative and culturally responsive repertoire
