MUSC 150 College Band (2 credits)

Course Description
A large performance ensemble open to all students with experience reading and performing instrumental band literature. Non-music major participation encouraged. Quarterly concerts required. Course is repeatable for additional credit up to 3 times in the degree.

Course Content
a.) unifying pitch, rhythm, tempo, articulation, and intonation precision  
b.) proper ensemble technique  
c.) unifying dynamic, phrase, balance 
d.) unifying timbre, stylistic expression 
e.) listening and responsiveness to others within the ensemble including the conductor 
f.) innovative and culturally responsive repertoire

Student Outcomes
  1. Demonstrate, through performance, improvement in technique, literacy and musicality.    
  2. Demonstrate improvement in ensemble playing.  
  3. Express musicality through diverse repertoire. 


Degree Outcomes
Humanities: Graduates acquire critical skills to interpret, analyze, and evaluate forms of human expression, which can include creation and performance as an expression of human experience.

Effective Communication
Graduates will be able to exchange messages in a variety of contexts using multiple methods.
