IE 012 Intensive English Grammar 1 (4 credits)
Course Description Grammar 1 is an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) course for students who need to develop low-intermediate English language skills. Students will study low-intermediate grammar concepts. Students must reach 80% competency overall in order to pass to the next level.
Course Content Simple present, simple past and simple future tenses Present progressive tense Positive and negative statements There is and there are structures Yes/No and Wh-questions Singular, plural and non-countable nouns Subject, object and possessive pronouns Regular verbs and commonly used irregular verbs Adverbs of frequency Attributive and predicate adjectives Comparative and superlative adjectives Articles with singular nouns
Student Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to perform the following outcomes at a low-intermediate language level:

Communicate using simple grammatical structures.

Examine syntax of basic expressions.

Apply basic grammar and mechanics to create simple sentences in a variety of contexts.
