IE 022 Intensive English Grammar 2 (4 credits)
Course Description Grammar 2 is an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) course for students who need to develop intermediate English language skills. Students will study intermediate grammar concepts. Students must reach 80% competency overall in order to pass to the next level.
Course Content Simple present, past and future tenses Present, past and future progressive tenses Yes/No and Wh-questions Modal verbs of ability, necessity, permission, request and possibility Adverbs and prepositional phrases of time, place, direction and manner Articles and determiners with singular, plural and non-count nouns
Student Outcomes
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to perform the following outcomes at an intermediate language level:
- Communicate using common grammatical structures.
- Distinguish when to use tenses in different situations.
- Examine syntax of everyday expressions.
- Apply grammar and mechanics to create sentences that express intent.
- Use common grammatical features in everyday expressions in various contexts.
