VT 130 Veterinary Pain Management (2 credits)
Prerequisite Enrollment in the Veterinary Technology Program
Course Description Lecture course focusing on the mechanism of pain development in animals, its recognition, and medical management. Treatment options for managing pain will be discussed including conventional drug therapy and alternative and complementary therapies.

B. Physiologic effects of pain
C. Assessment of pain in animals
D. Drugs used in the treatment of pain
E. Alternative and complementary therapies used to treat pain
