BTECA 114 Introduction to Windows and Microsoft Word (5 credits)



Course Description
This course introduces the Windows Operating System and File Explorer to manage files. Upon successful completion of this course, students will have mastered the features of Word to align with the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) objectives.

A. File management
B. Window applications
C. Create and manage Microsoft Word documents
D. Format text, paragraphs, and sections
E. Create tables and lists
F. Apply references
G. Insert and format objects

Student Outcomes
1. Create, name and organize files and folders in File Explorer. 

2. Modify the appearance of Microsoft Word documents, including editing shapes and images. 

3. Create and edit shapes and images. 

4. Manage Microsoft Word documents in relation to other programs. 

5. Apply advanced Microsoft Word features to increase clarity and navigation within academic and workplace documents.

Program Outcome: Demonstrate proficiency in efficiently performing a variety of administrative tasks. (Including answering phones, managing schedules, handling correspondence using common office software such as word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and email/calendar management programs.)
