DDSGN 135 Introduction to New Media (5 Credits)

Course Description This course covers the historical elements and a solid working knowledge of the development of new media. Students will explore technical, social, cultural, ethical and economic aspects of new media technologies, such as advertising, branding, mass media, product design and UX/UI design.
Course Content A. Design Thinking (e.g. critical thinking, concept development, problem solving etc.) B. New media history and trends C. Storytelling D. Research methods E. New Media production G. Micro-animation H. Multi-media I. Human-centered design (e.g. accessibility, empathy, visual communication, etc.) J. Narrative elements of new media production (e.g. complex data, writing, journey map, site map etc.)
