PE 190 Independent Fitness Activities (2 credits)



Course Description
Independent physical activity course introducing the PE 190–192 series. Students design and initiate a comprehensive personal fitness program by manipulating exercise variables to develop health and skill-related components of fitness.ill-related components of fitness.

Student Outcomes
1. Identify medical clearance for safe independent participation in exercise and the benefits of participation in a comprehensive fitness program.

2. Identify the health-related components of fitness to develop and implement exercise prescription for oneself unique to one’s personal expression and choice independently.

3. Identify the benefits of exercise to improve one’s health and wellness through the development of SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound) goals for the purpose of self-analysis, self-discovery, and self-reflection.

Program Outcome: Graduates will increase their awareness, knowledge and behavioral skills regarding the role of physical activity and exercise as a foundation for life-long health and wellness.
