Course Description
An introduction to the mechanisms of diseases, including basic genetics, and the recognition of characteristics of diseases encountered in the practice of dental hygiene.

Student Outcomes
1. Explain the clinical criteria and features of human diseases and disorders.
2. Describe the etiology, predisposing factors, pathogenesis, signs and symptoms, prevention, clinical considerations, and indications of management/treatment of human diseases and disorders.
3. Demonstrate the recognition, diagnosis, management, and treatment of human diseases and disorders in dental/dental hygiene settings.
4. Synthesize evidence and information, taking into consideration validity and reliability, for evidence-based diagnostic, management, and treatment approaches to communicate with others about human diseases and disorders.
