Construction Management DTA/MRP Degree Requirements

This degree is applicable to transfer students planning to prepare for American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) accredited (www.acce-hq.org/about/advantages-of-accreditation/) majors in Construction Management at Central Washington University (CWU), Washington State University (WSU) and the University of Washington, Seattle (UWS). It also provides information for transfer to Eastern Washington University’s (EWU) BS in Technology, Construction Management.

 

General Degree Requirements

  • Minimum of 90 credits earned in courses numbered 100 or above is required to complete the Associate in Construction Management DTA/MRP degree
  • College cumulative GPA of at least 2.0
  •  - required
  •  required during the first or second quarter of attendance
  • Earn the lesser of (at least) 20 college level credits or 25% of the credits applicable to the degree or certificate at Pierce College
  • 1.5 grade (C-) or higher is required for all coursework, unless stated otherwise
  • “Pass” (P) grades, independent study and cooperative work experience/work-based learning credits may be used for general elective credits only
  • Once a course has been successfully completed, credits earned may be used in only one category

Core Requirements


Communication Skills (10 Credits)


ENGL& 101 is required with a 2.0 grade or higher. Second communications course requires a 1.5 or higher grade. CWU requires an equivalent to ENG 102 - Composition II: Reasoning and Research for program acceptance.

Select one:


Quantitative/Symbolic Reasoning Skills (5 Credits)


Intermediate algebra proficiency is required. Course requires a 1.5 grade or higher.

  • Note: The math course you select will depend on the Career Pathway Map you are following, the transfer institution/degree that you select, and your math placement guidance. Your advisor will assist you in selecting the relevant 5 or 7 credit course(s) based upon co-requisite options. 

Construction Management Courses (13-18 Credits)


Courses require a 1.5 grade or higher.

ACCT& 201 and ACCT& 202 are required.

UW-Seattle requires  and three credits of Architectural CAD or Engineering graphics equivalent to ENGR& 111 or  or ENGR& 121, a course that includes 3-D graphics such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks. WSU, CWU and EWU recommend three quarter credits of Architectural CAD or Engineering graphics.

Students may select three credits for the recommended electives list that best fit their future university.

General Electives (20 Credits)


Minimum grade of 1.0 is required. Maximum of five credits additional college-level courses. A maximum of three PE activity credits can be applied to this degree. COLLG 110 is required with a 2.0 grade or higher.

Notes

  • Entry to Construction Management majors is selective; students typically require a higher minimum overall GPA than the minimum 2.0 for the general DTA. Students need to check criteria for selection by connecting with their future institution.
  • Courses in humanities/social science must come from the current ICRC distribution list in order to count as General Education or General University Requirements (GERs/GURs) at the receiving institution. Additional general educational, cultural diversity, and foreign language requirements, as required by the transfer institution, must be met prior to the completion of a baccalaureate degree.
  • Students are responsible for checking specific major requirements of baccalaureate institutions in the year prior to transferring.
