Course purpose: Grants are the backbone of many emergency management programs. In this class you will learn how to identify, apply for, and successfully manage grants, with a special emphasis on grants that are available to Tribal and Native Alaska Village entities.

Program Outcomes
- Demonstrate knowledge of the phases of disaster and the mission areas of homeland security and how they affect a Tribal emergency management program.
- Identify relevant stakeholders in Tribal emergency management and learn how to accurately understand their needs and communicate with them.
- Explain political and legal processes and how they influence Tribal emergency management policy.
- Demonstrate the ability to organize Tribal assets for effective disaster planning, mitigation, response, and recovery.
