COLLG 110 College Success (3 credits)
Course purpose: A foundational course to explore and affirm a career choice and build upon the skills, knowledge, and resources that will support you at Pierce College and beyond.

2. Business Math

BTECA 117 Business Mathematics (5 credits)
Course purpose: Math skills are needed to interpret and apply financial information. This is also key to proper data entry and transaction classification.

3. Principles of Accounting I & II

ACCT& 201 Principles of Accounting I (5 credits)
ACCT& 202 Principles of Accounting II (5 credits)
Course purpose: These courses provide the foundational knowledge expected of any accounting/bookkeeping employee.

CIS 136 Spreadsheet Applications (3 credits)
Course purpose: MS Excel is used throughout the business and accounting world. Knowledge of this program is important to your success as an employee.

BTECA 115 Business English I (5 credits)
Course purpose: This course will provide you with effective communication skills.
ENGL& 101 English Composition I (5 credits)
Course purpose: Effective communications are key to success in any accounting / business position. This course is recommended for Business DTA majors or if you planning on transferring to another institution after Pierce to continue towards their 4-year degree.

6. QuickBooks

ACCT 131 QuickBooks (5 credits)
Course purpose: This is the first of two courses that offer experience with frequently used bookkeeping software.

ACCT 276 Nonprofit Management and Reporting (5 credits)

CIS 121 Introduction to Computer Information Systems (5 credits)
Course purpose: An understanding of computer technology, vocabulary and information processing are developed here. Exercises include higher-level programming language and lab assignments.

10. Accounting Systems

ACCT 180 Accounting with SAGE 50 (5 credits)
Course purpose: This is the second of two courses that offers experience with frequently used bookkeeping software.

11. Payroll and Business Taxes

ACCT 275 Payroll and Business Taxes (5 credits)
Course purpose: Knowledge of payroll is a skill valued by many employers.

12. Human Relations in the Workplace

BUS 240 Human Relations in the Workplace (5 credits)
Course purpose: Hone your skills at working in a business setting.

13. Ten-Key Mastery

BTECA 136 Ten-Key Mastery (1 credit)
Course purpose: Ten-key experience is an important skill in accounting, whether using a desktop calculator or computer keyboard.
