DHYG 418 Education Methodologies II: Service Learning and Special Populations (3)
Prereq: Successful completion of DHYG 318 as per the current Dental Hygiene Department Policy on Academic Standards and current enrollment in Bachelor of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene program.
An exploration of educational methodologies including a special focus regarding the physical, intellectual and health status changes in the aging process. Further addresses dental management issues of special needs patients in dental related settings. Aging strategies and disease prevention theories are employed to develop oral health curriculum for any patient and/or caregivers in institutional, assisted-living, and family-centered settings. Further develops the dental hygienist as an integral member of the global health-care team.
