SOC 235 Race and Ethnicity (5 credits) GER-SS A sociological exploration of race and ethnicity in contemporary society. Course may include, but is not limited to, a survey of theories, problems, nature and the dynamics of racism - power and inequality; prejudice and discrimination; racial and ethnic identity; stratification; segregation; and patterns of racial/ethnic relations. Topics are examined conceptually and historically, using data from scientific, philosophical, sociopolitical, legal and cultural sources.
