3. Introduction to the Medical Office
- BTECM 149 Introduction to the Medical Office (5 credits)
Course purpose: In this course you will be introduced to topics that occur in a medical office setting: You will learn the history of the healthcare system, overview of types of healthcare facilities, roles and responsibilities of healthcare professionals, importance of team work and process improvement, as well as strategies for exploring the job market.

4. Business Mathematics
- BTECA 117 Business Mathematics (5 credits)
Course purpose: In this class you will learn and practice skills used in business such as keeping a checkbook and balancing it. Concepts covered in this course include solving for equations for the unknown, calculating percents and fractions. You will learn about discounts, markups, and markdowns and will gain insight into perishables, simple interest promissory notes, discount notes, and the discount process, compound interest and present value.

7. Medical Terminology

- BTECM 150 Medical Terminology I (5 credits)
Course purpose: In this course you will be introduced to word forms, pre-fixes, suffixes, and root words. You will analyze medical terms through the knowledge of the Greek and Latin roots, prefixes, and suffixes. - BTECM 151 Medical Terminology II (5 credits)
Course purpose: In this course you will continue to learn the rest of the body systems practicing all the same skills as you did in BTECM 150.
8. Customer Relationship Management
- MNGT 130 Customer Relationship Management (5 credits)
Course purpose: In this course you will develop and utilize creative solutions and proactive problem-solving/decision making to meet customer needs. You will analyze and explain the various elements of a customer service culture. In addition, you will develop and apply strategies for communicating with different behavioral and personality styles.

- BTECA 116 Business English II (3 credits)
Course purpose: In this course you will study and practice with the writing process to create effective business memoranda, letters, and short reports. You will continue to build a strong business vocabulary and fluency with punctuation and rules.
11. Medical Forms and Referral Management
- BTECM 250 Medical Forms and Referral Management (5 credits)
Course purpose: In this course you will be introduced to a variety of medical forms used in industry: CMS-1500, UB-92, referrals, and referral requests. You will gain an understanding of documentation guidelines and completion of medical claim forms for Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, Worker’s Compensation and Labor & Industries.
