Course Description
The first quarter of a first year sequential course designed to promote the ability to speak, read, write and understand the Russian language.

Course Content
Nominative case and gender of adjectives, nouns, and pronouns: singular and plural 
Prepositional case and gender of adjectives, nouns, and pronouns: singular and plural 
Basic sentence structure: present tense verbs with conjugations, negatives, adverbs, conjunctions  
Basic time expressions  
Appropriate forms of formal and informal address and greetings 
Basic family relationships and descriptions  
Cardinal numbers 
Question formation: Intonation, Who? Questions 
Everyday activities and preferences 
Basic personal information: Names, nationalities, occupations, introducing people

Student Outcomes
  1. Recall words, phrases and formulaic language in oral and written texts.
  2. Exchange messages in the present tense using highly predictable language. 
  3. Express words, phrases and formulaic language about familiar and everyday topics through spoken and written language. 
  4. Present basic biographical/identity information within personally relevant contexts. 
  5. Express self in the present tense on familiar topics. 
  6. Interact about familiar everyday contexts using simple grammar.
