KINS 128 CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer BBP and First Aid (2 credits)



Course Description
The American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED program is designed to help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies.

A. Responsibilities of the Professional Rescuer
B. The Emergency Medical Services Team (EMS)
C. Legal considerations
D. Standard Precautions and Blood Borne Pathogens
E. Primary assessment
F. Breathing emergencies
G. Cardiac emergencies
H. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
I. Automatic External Defibrillation (AED)
J. American Red Cross Certification and Recertification Requirements
K.  Performance of CPR on manikins

Student Outcomes
1. Identify the responsibilities and characteristics of professional rescuers and the legal considerations and aspects of the EMS (Emergency Medical Services System).

2. Demonstrate all life saving skills assessments following currently approved standards by the American Red Cross Scientific Advisory Council.

3. Identify the benefits of American Red Cross training to support safer communities and the importance of maintaining one’s professional knowledge and skills.
