EMS 215 Human Body Systems (3 credits)



Prerequisite Enrollment in the Paramedic Program.

Course Description
Review of Anatomy and Physiology, Pathophysiology and Life Span Development.

Course Content
The Cell, Cellular Organelles and Cell Physiology
Normal Body System Function and homeostasis
Pathophysiological Response to Infection, Necrosis, Stress, Carcinogenesis, and Inflammation
Factors that Influence Health Outcomes

Student Outcomes
  1. Describe the structure and function of the human cell, its organelles, and cellular physiology.
  2. Describe the normal function and homeostasis of body systems.
  3. Identify the nature of basic, abnormal physiologic conditions.
  4. Describe the basic pathophysiological responses to abnormal physiologic conditions.
  5. Explain the biological, psychological, social, and cultural influences on human development.
  6. Explain the cultural and psychosocial factors that influence the biological development through the lifespan.
