EMS 225 Paramedic Skills Lab I (3 credits)



Prerequisite Enrollment in the Paramedic Program.

Course Description
Reviews EMT level skills and introduces the advanced paramedic skills.

Course Content
Performance and practical applications of skills learned.
 Perform proper technique for medication administration through various routes of administration.
Calculate the volume to be administered of a medication for a given dosage and concentration for weight based and non-weight-based medications.
Calculate the proper drip rate for a given volume of fluid to be administered over time or a medication infusion.

Student Outcomes
  1. Perform the systematic patient assessment used for patients with cardio-respiratory complaints.
  2. Identify the most likely etiology using information obtained from patient history, clinical findings, and foundational knowledge of pathophysiology.
  3.  Demonstrate safe and proper use of the portable ECG and defibrillator. 
  4. Demonstrate assessment, management, and skills performance into simulated patient scenarios.
