2. English Composition I
- ENGL& 101 English Composition I (5 credits)
Course purpose: Clear and strategic communication with others is a central feature of all careers connected to Business. The skills learned in ENGL 101 are foundational for later coursework and beyond. (Required courses for admission into the BAS in Applied Business Management.) Note: Your advisor will assist you in reviewing your Guided Self Placement and selecting either the 5-credit or the 7-credit co-requisite ENGL& 101 + ENGLC 101 course.

- MATH& 146 Introduction to Stats (5 credits)
Course purpose: Undergraduate business students benefit from taking a statistics class because it equips them with essential skills for data analysis, decision-making, and problem-solving in real-world business environments. Statistics helps them interpret data trends, make informed decisions based on quantitative evidence, and effectively manage risks.

- BUS 260 Project Management I: Planning (5 credits)
Course purpose: Good project management skills saves a company time, money, and resources. In this course you will learn about the Initiate and Plan Process Groups tools and techniques to build a project plan. BUS 260 is part one of a two-part series. BUS 261 is the second course in this series.
Option C: Entrepreneurship
- BUS 134 Introduction to Social Media (5 credits)
Course purpose: Social media is how businesses are connecting with consumers. As a business professional you need basic understanding of how social media can impact brand recognition, increase traffic to company websites, and reach specific audiences.

Option A: Human Resource Management
- MNGT 296 Current Trends in Human Resources (5 credits)
Course purpose: Explores current human resource issues including local, state, and federal labor laws; effective recruitment and selection techniques using behaviorally-anchored structured interview format; training and development strategies using competency-based individual development plans; 360-degree performance review; and how to write employee policy manuals and job descriptions.
Option B: Project Management (earns Certificate in Project Management)
- BUS 261 Project Management II: Managing (5 credits)
Course purpose: Good project management skills saves a company time, money, and resources. In BUS 261 you will learn about the Execute, Monitor/Control, and Close Process Groups tools and techniques to build a project plan. BUS 261 is part two of a two-part series. BUS 260 is the first course in this series.
